The Vail Chorale (2018)

Saturday, November 2, 2019,

3:00-4:00 p.m.,

The Arizona Senior Academy Building

The Arizona Senior Academy is pleased to present a Saturday afternoon performance of the Vail Chorale’s 2019 Fall Concert. This season’s “Heroes & Villains” theme will bring energetic musical fun for “children of all ages.”

Heroes and villains abound in Broadway musicals as well as in movies. Choral selections will include exciting arrangements of “For Good” and “What is this Feeling?” from Wicked, “Stronger” from Finding Neverland, “Be the Hero” from Big Fish, and “This is the Moment” from Jekyll & Hyde. Movies will be represented by “The Pink Panther,” “Ghostbusters” and the “James Bond Theme.” Various solo and small ensemble selections will highlight some favorite villainous characters from musicals including Phantom of the Opera, Chicago, Tangled, and Little Shop of Horrors.

Since 2011, the Vail Chorale has been entertaining local audiences who frequently comment that the enthusiasm of the singers is contagious. The Chorale remains a non-auditioned, intergenerational community chorus, providing camaraderie for those who enjoy singing in harmony. The Chorale was originally founded by former ASA member Fritz Reinagel, whose mission was to establish choral music-making on Tucson’s east side and cultivate a following for the Chorale among the Greater Vail community.

Now in her third year as director, Brianna Petty has continued to build on the Vail Chorale’s foundation as a community chorus that strives to achieve musical excellence, welcoming singers of all backgrounds. Musical leadership is supported by Melissa Hale, assistant director, and accompanist Shantell Funckes. Concerts are free and open to the general public, with donations gratefully accepted.
